Circuit Services

KanREN's next-generation backbone network can provide dedicated circuits to our member sites. While it is possible to provide circuit services to any member, the primary target is our backbone node members. These members need not wait more than a few minutes to have a circuit provisioned -- or torn down. Our circuit services can be useful for any number of purposes, and approximate the services provided by regional and national R&E networks such as GPN and Internet2. Much of the same technology is used in KanREN's circuit service as the circuit services being introduced from the Internet2 DCN project.

Currently, there is not an automated Web interface for KanREN's circuit network, however, KanREN can provision these circuits in a matter of minutes. As demand dictates, an automated provisioning service will be added. This service is useful for many differet needs:

• Connections to remote campuses.
• Connecting faculty and staff at multiple institutions to the same network "workspace".
• Bypassing the campus border for specialized needs.
• Connection to GPN/I2 DCN services.
• Extending the campus enterprize to remote locations.
• Replacement for nearly any leased-line circuit application.
